Rafael Fernández, expert in Mexico-U.S. bilateral relations, present at Summit 2022

The academic will give a lecture on The Sea of Cortez Region and the United States.

Rafael Fernández de Castroan expert on U.S.-Mexico bilateral relations, will be among the voices to be heard at the Summit 2022 Mission Prosperity that organizes Sea of Cortez Forum and will take place from November 16 to 18, at Los CabosBaja California Sur.

The academic will speak at the conference The Sea of Cortez Region and the United Stateshaving as moderator Federico Ling Sanz Closed.

Fernández de Castro is currently the director of Center for U.S.-Mexico Studiesof the University of California at San Diegoand Aaron Feldman Family Chancellors Endowed Chair in U.S.-Mexico Studies.

He holds a degree in Political Science from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), a Master's degree in Public Policy from the Lyndon B. Johnson School at the University of Texas at Austin and a PhD in Political Science from Georgetown University.

Fernández de Castro has published numerous academic articles and has written several books, including "Contemporary U.S.-Latin American Relations: Cooperation or Conflict in the 21st Century?" y "The United States and
Mexico: between society and conflict". with Jorge Domínguez.

He also served as Project Director of the UNDP Human Development Report for Latin America 2013-14, "Citizen Security with a Human Face: Evidence and Proposals for Latin America".

He was foreign policy advisor to President Felipe Calderón. He is founder and former chairman of the International Studies Department of the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in Mexico City.

He is the founder and editor of Foreign Affairs Latin America and collaborates with some national media in Mexico.
