Pablo Zamora proposes to companies to adopt a transformational purpose

To solve social problems it is necessary to increase public-private sector linkages and the participation of academia, says the president of Fundación Chile

In order to fulfill its social responsibilitycompanies should adopt a transformative purpose through intelligent decisions about how they treat society, he said. Pablo Zamora.

The president of the Fundación Chile took part in the discussion Good Prosperity Practices - The Case of Fundación Chilewithin the Summit 2022 Mission Prosperityof Sea of Cortez Forumwith the following as moderator Valeria Moypresident of the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness.

"Social responsibility is how you act with the environment, with yourself, even the relationship with your workers, how you relate to your community. The purpose of a company has to be transformative and to have a worker aligned with your purpose they have to be happy and to be happy they have to earn well," he said.

The Chilean academic stressed that companies are entities that have different ways of how they treat, how they promote, how they pay people, how they encourage the development of talent and can make intelligent decisions regarding how to treat this society.

Zamora added that social problems must be addressed through increased linkage between the public and private sectors in common objectives, and greater participation of academia.

"What we have to do is orchestrate ourselves, generate community, is to think from the collective, because finally complex problems are solved with complex solutions and those do not come from a single individual, they come from complementarity," he said.

The president of Fundación Chile stated that Sea of Cortez Forum can be for this region that orchestrating entity in search of improving both human welfare and the state of the country's natural heritage.

Pablo Zamora recommended the articulation of the public and private sectors through this organization, which should be neutral, flexible and open, based on demand to solve problems, be a natural ally of the State, promote the development of cutting-edge technology initiatives aligned with the country's development, with decentralized articulation and technical capabilities.

"A flexible, honest, forward-looking organization is capable of bringing together the government, the private sector and the regional governments to jointly orchestrate a common solution," he said.

It is necessary, he said, to define a strategic plan for regional growth, what the new economies are going to be and how to orchestrate all the actors so that they contribute to the development of this new economy.

Foro Mar de Cortés and Fundación Chile sign memorandum of understanding

"I am happy to learn about everything that has to do with what they are doing in the Forum, the desire to collaborate exists, we will take it very seriously," said Pablo Zamora.

Radamés Díaz MezaThe executive president of the Sea of Cortez Forum, commented that many of the projects explained by Zamora are feasible to replicate and implement in this region.
