The honorary president of Sea of Cortez Forum said that this is a path that involves scientifically knowing the region and the sea that unites the states of Baja California Sur, Baja California, Sonora, Sinaloa y Nayarit.

Coppel Luken stated that Sea of Cortez Forum is a meeting place to think, discuss, design and try to define a common project for the future in this incredible space as is the Gulf of California.
"We want to establish that the prosperity of some cannot be to the detriment of the avoidable suffering of others. We do not want poverty in the Sea of Cortez. The Sea of Cortez must be a region where there is always something new to undertake, something valuable that we can look forward to in the present and in the future," he stressed.

Coppel Luken pointed out what is intended to be achieved through Sea of Cortez Forum:

- We want to increase our awareness and commitment to the realities of caring for biodiversity and the serious global problem of climate change;
- We want to establish flagship projects that put us on the road to and towards development;
- We want to think together... and embark on a journey towards prosperity.
Coppel Luken emphasized that the region's biodiversity is privileged and demands a great deal of responsibility from everyone, because this is the true wealth and great potential of this wonderful region, which, by the way, has the best location in the world.
