Karina López Ivich and her commitment to the environment

The Master in Environmental Engineering is one of the most active leaders in water issues in Sonora; she will be at the Summit 2020, where she will speak about water stress in the Sea of Cortez region.

Based on two master's degrees in Environmental Engineering and in Economics in Environmental Public Policy, Karina López Ivich has become one of the most active and proactive voices on issues related to the environment and the water resource, in Sonora.

Originally from HermosilloWith more than 25 years of experience in the development of projects in a wide variety of environmental issues, including water treatment, watershed management, integrated water resource management, waste management, renewable energy and, more recently, climate change.

"I am passionate about being part of the transformation to a world that runs on renewable energy, organic food production, and clean and accessible water for all," she says in her profile.

Ms. López Ivich holds a degree in Biochemical Engineering and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph, Canada, and a Master's degree in Economics in Environmental Public Policy from the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.

The activist has collaborated with international organizations, including the Water, Environment and Health Programof the United Nations Universityand the program Sustainable Cities from Industry Canada. He has collaborated with European and Canadian companies on projects in Mexico and Latin America.

López Ivich is Climate Leader of Climate Realityfounder and director of Inspiring Action for a Better World A.C. (IAMM), a non-profit civil association, through which it promotes climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions, developing projects in five main areas: sustainable mobility, renewable energies, urban forestry, water management and green economy.

He is currently a PhD student in Environmental Sustainability at the University of Ottawa, Canada, and collaborates with the Smart Prosperity Institute in Ottawa on applied research and policy development.

The activist is a citizen advisor to the Board of Governors of Agua de Hermosillo, and collaborates in the groups of Environment and Water, Hermosillo ¿Cómo vamos? A. C.

Karina is one of the guest speakers at the Summit 2022 Mission Prosperityof Sea of Cortez Forumto be held in Los CabosBaja California Sur, from November 16 to 18. The environmentalist from Sonora will speak about Prosperity and Water Stress in the Sea of Cortés Region.
