Sea of Cortez Forum to present high-impact projects at Summit 2022 to reduce carbon footprint and advance SDG targets

Sea of Cortez Forum will seek to strengthen co-investment in one of the main poles of sustainable, human and inclusive development in Mexico and the world.

Mexico City, November 8, 2022. The region of Los CabosBaja California Sur is getting ready to receive the second edition of the Summit from Sea of Cortez Forumwhich will present three transcendental projects that will contribute to the reduction of carbon footprint and will drive the fulfillment of the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

This year's theme is "Mission Prosperity". and intends to continue fostering synergies that promote sustainable development and inclusive prosperity with full respect for the limits of nature among the five states that embrace the country's most important fishing zone: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Sinaloa y Sonorawith 77% of the fishery concentrated in the Pacific Ocean and the 80% which comes from the Gulf of California.

Sergio Radamés Díaz Meza, Executive President of Foro Mar de Cortés said: "this space for the exchange of ideas and initiatives focused on the preservation of the area, aims to contribute to the generation of answers on how companies, government, civil society, communities and academia can develop a regional agenda that manages to boost the local social and economic sphere, without affecting the environment".

During Summit 2022, three main projects will be presented with the mission of reducing environmental impacts in the region:

Sea of Cortez Region Carbon Neutral Target 2030The Sea of Cortez Economic Region: seeks to promote a social-corporate strategy, through digital and innovative solutions, to make the Sea of Cortez economic region the only one in the world that collectively and actively addresses the climate sustainability policies of the United Nations.

Presentation of the SDG Action Manager tooldeveloped by Sistema B's B Lab and the United Nations Global Compact, designed to provide all types of companies with the opportunity to learn, manage and directly improve their sustainability performance.

Prosperity Monitoring Center in the Sea of CortezThe purpose of this report is to initiate metrics and indicators of progress towards prosperity in the region, in order to provide information on the design of the economic system to be implemented in the coming years, feedback on its improvements, and evaluate the state of the Sea of Cortez region.

"This will offer a future of prosperity for all the inhabitants of the cities and communities; it will also contribute to the conservation and regeneration of their natural resources. The aim is for all the actors involved to be guardians of the ecological and economic balance of the area, which will be the central axis for reordering, promoting and creating economies that are regenerative and distributive to ensure that there are no conditions of social inequality or resource deficiencies," concluded Sergio Radamés Díaz Meza.

This edition will take place from November 16 to 18 and expects to receive 400 attendees. There will be 42 speakers, 3 keynote lectures and 7 panels that will address various topics, including: ecosystem preservation, tourism, climate change, water stress, social responsibility, impact investments, among others.

Among the speakers who will share their knowledge and experience, the participation of the following stand out Pablo ZamoraPresident of Fundación Chile and co-founder of NotCo; Christy WaltonThe governors of the five states with which the Sea of Cortez borders the Sea of Cortez, philanthropist and businesswoman, as well as the governors of the five states with which the Sea of Cortez borders.
