Sixty-eight percent of Mexicans are regularly concerned about climate change, while 74 percent already notice climate change impacts in the country. This was revealed by the recent Ipsos global study "Earth Day. Public opinion on climate change".

According to Ipsos.com, few countries can correctly identify the best actions to reduce carbon emissions.

The survey indicates that while concern is present, possible solutions are not in sight, with only 39% of the population surveyed in the different countries agreeing that their government has a clear plan on how the government, businesses and individuals will work to combat climate change.

What changes would you make?

When asked about the changes they would make to combat climate change, avoiding excess packaging tops the list, with 58% of people globally expecting to make this change during the year. The public shows less intention to change on higher impact actions, such as dietary changes and avoiding flying, although there have been increases in the expectation to change on these measures since 2021.

In Mexico, the three actions that were considered the main ones to address the problem were: Avoid products that have a lot of packaging (62%). Avoid buying new products, i.e., repair what you have or buy used products instead (60%). Eating less meat, or replacing meat in some meals with alternatives such as beans (61%). While other actions that may have a greater impact were less considered, for example: Not flying, or replacing some flights with train or bus travel (57%).
